Run by artist Jane Galloway and displaying work from New Zealand artists and artisans
Born in London, Claire first came to NZ as a backpacker on her OE. She settled in Auckland and for many years worked in book and magazine publishing as an editor, designer and illustrator. In 2019, needing a change, she enrolled on the NZ Diploma in Arts & Design (Ceramics) at Auckland Studio Potters having never so much as thrown a pot. She still doesn’t throw pots, preferring instead to sculpt which has become her passion. Since finishing the diploma, Claire’s sculptures have featured in many selected exhibitions including Fire & Clay in Auckland, Uku Clay Ceramics Awards in Hawkes Bay, Waiclay Ceramics Awards in Hamilton and Quarry Ceramics Awards in Whangarei where Claire’s piece ‘Not Forgetting’ won the 2023 premier award.
