Run by artist Jane Galloway and displaying work from New Zealand artists and artisans
Susan Christie completed her bachelor of visual arts in 2015 and works from her north shore studio in Tāmaki Makaurau. She works in both paint and clay exploring form, colour, pattern and texture.
Central to her process is the act of play. Play enables an engagement in the moment, relying on intuition and most importantly allowing a sense of freedom to explore processes and techniques.
All her work starts with an idea of a form but she allows for spontaneity and improvisation, always being sensitive to the materials and pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved. Her work occurs on the edge of contemporary visual culture where traditional disciplines of art, design, fashion and craft blend and blur. She feels motivated to explore ideas at the intersection of these disciplines, where something new and delightful can occur.
